I wanted to let you know that my class is putting on a class play, The Weather Show, with the money from Jill's fund you gave us this year. I wrote a little dedication note in the program to Jill, dedicating it in her memory. Absolutely no pressure at all, but I wanted to let you know you are more than welcome to come to a dress rehearsal, or even the show if you would like.
Also, Maureen Carpenter is coming to one of the dress rehearsals to take some pictures - so we can always pass those along if you would like to see how cute the kiddos look performing. Through Jill's fund, you have given my kids such a fantastic opportunity...thank you again.

My son Colin had Jill in 2008 for first grade. She was an amazing teacher and person. I think about her often. I wear her bracelet to give me patience and strength as I am now a preschool teacher.
Please know that Jill will never be forgotten. I miss her and hope you are doing well.

Thank you so much for the beautiful addition to our classroom. The children love it and Jill would have loved the joy it is bringing them. I uploaded some pictures that attempted to capture their excitement. I also wrote a note that I uploaded at the same time but I don't see it on the website. Well, I wanted everyone to see your generosity first hand and to know that Jill still touches the lives of the students at Dudley. Thank you so much!

The Live Oak order has partially arrived. I thought I would put a label on each box that said " Donated by the Jill R McDermott Memorial Fund in memory of wonderful Teacher at Dudley School, Jill R McDermott . When the remainder arrive I will take a photo of some of the kids using a listening center with the books and send that to you for the website. Thanks again, you have been so generous.

I have been meaning to take a moment to thank you very much for thinking of the teachers here at Dudley School in such a special way. I have begun receiving some of the items from the Wish List I completed prior to the holiday and want you to know how very much it is appreciated for use in my classroom. I continue to keep Jill in my thoughts and prayers as I pass by her classroom en route to my own each morning. Her spirit will always be such a special part of our school community ...as will your thoughtfulness.

I wanted to thank you for the wonderful work you are doing on behalf of Jill. It was an honor to be able to receive supplies from her closet.
They will be put to good use. She would be so happy to know that the students and staff at Dudley are receiving the materials and supplies that she wanted them to have.

I just received an email from Karen F., my Dudley Principal, letting me know that my name was drawn to choose items from Mrs.McDermott's Closet that were generously donated by your family. I chose a pack of "Happy Birthday" pencils and a "Don't Spill the Beans" game. The magnet you sent me is on my refrigerator at home. It brings me comfort every time I see Jill's picture. I will think of her (and you) each time I use these wonderful supplies with my students. Thanks so much!

I want to thank you for all you have done and continue to do for Dudley School.
When I visited "Jill's Closet,"I was able to pick a reading game for our department and bulletin board border for my new reading room.
Each time this game is played, I will think of Jill and her love for teaching and her students.
We continue to keep you and Jill's family in our thoughts and prayers during this holiday season.

Just adding my thank you to the many I'm sure you receive each day, for your generous donation of Jill's teaching supplies to Dudley School. I have chosen to use her magnetic letters, a core tool for the instruction we are providing for students struggling with reading. Jill always had a special fondness for those who struggled, and I feel sure she would feel happy seeing her materials being used for this purpose. Thank you again for thinking of this special way to keep a little of Jill in every class at Dudley!

I don't even know how to express my gratitude to you. I am humbled and amazed at your generosity and kindness for Dudley. The books you bought for my classroom will be shared and enjoyed for years to come with so many students and I know that would make Jill so happy. The supplies you have donated to all of us are quite overwhelming, but again I know how excited it would make Jill to know that children will be happy because of how she continues to give back to them each day. Jill was such a huge part of Dudley and she would continue to live on every day through all of us. Thank you for helping us make our students lives more enriched and fulfilled every day.

My name is Erica Santoro and I transferred to 1st grade at Dudley this year from Northside where I taught 3rd. I didn't know Jill well, but my 3rd graders used to frequently talk about Mrs. McDermott, their beloved 1st grade teacher.
I think what you are doing for the Dudley teachers is truly amazing. As a new 1st grade teacher, I am lacking in phonics games/materials, so two of Jill's phonics board games were my choice when I had the opportunity to visit her "closet" down in Room 604. I know I will get a great deal of use out of them. When we were told we had been given $200 for spending, I thought for a long time about what I could use the money for that would really benefit my students. I would like to put on a play this spring, and I found one on a topic my kiddos love - the weather.
The other item I will use a lot in my classroom is called a snowball microphone. Our class puts on monthly podcasts (we call them radio shows for the kiddos) and the microphone I use isn't great. I talked with our technology consult, and he recommended a Blue Snowball Microphone-
Pat Edwards said sending websites to you for the order was fine - I hope this isn't too much of a hassle! Let me know if I can do anything to help with the ordering. I feel so humbled and truly appreciate your generosity.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for enhancing the 1st grade experience for our kiddos.

Thank you so much for donating Jill's teaching materials to the school. I knew as I looked through Mrs. McDermott's closet Jill would be thrilled at the thought of her things helping more children. She was a great advocate for our kids. I was able to get a game that my kids have really enjoyed. I also got red paint tape which sounds so silly, but is awesome for classroom organization (something that makes me think fondly of Jill :)). I will use it with pride.

I want to thank you for donating all of Jill's school supplies to Dudley.
I picked out two games I will be using with my students and I know everytime I use them I will think fondly of your sweet wife. I was fortunate enough to co-teach with Jill at Dudley for two years. She was wonderful with the children and very easy to work with. We were a good team together. She is most definitely missed here at Dudley. My prayers continue to be with you and the rest of Jill's family.

I'm new to Dudley this year so I didn't know Jill but it's obvious from all of the things I've heard what a wonderful person she was and a dedicated teacher. Thank you for the materials donated to Dudley which were given to all the classrooms. It was very generous and my students and I greatly appreciate it.

Each year I do a big unit with my second graders on fairy tales and fractured fairy tales. I usually use the library for these books, but often these books have been taken out by other teachers or students and are not available when I need them. I would love to have my own copies of these books. Paper back is fine and gently used is fine too. I am including the entire list, but even one or two would be greatly appreciated. This is so kind of you!
Jill's Memorial Fund Fulfilled Ellen's entire wish-list......
Wow... I am speechless and so touched. Thank you so very much! I know how much Jill loved books and I will think of her always, as I share these wonderful stories with students.

I am thrilled with the itouch! It is beautiful and I love the inscription. Thank you for being so thoughtful! I am researching the apps and I also think I will be able to use the recording feature to tape the kids reading to help them with their fluency! Your name and Jill's came up at grade level today and we are just so awed at your continuous generosity and kindness. What a lovely way to honor Jill. My thoughts and prayers are with you as you go through this very difficult holiday season. You were truly a very special couple. Some people never have that opportunity in life to find true love. I know yours was cut too short and I am so sorry for that!
All my best!
